Meet Alyssa Stepp, LCPC
Hi, I'm Alyssa, and I'm so glad you're here.
Asking for help isn't always easy, and finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, understood, and supported from the very beginning. Whether you're navigating anxiety, ADHD, depression, relationship challenges, or a difficult season of life, I'm here to help you build the tools and confidence to move forward.
Having lived in the south suburbs of Chicago my entire life, I value being able to serve the community that has shaped me. It is a privilege to walk alongside children, adolescents, and adults as they work toward healing, growth, and lasting change.
My Background
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with minors in Communications and Sociology, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign before completing my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Roosevelt University. Since then, I have spent more than four years in private practice providing therapy to children (ages 7+), adolescents, and adults navigating a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and life challenges.
Throughout my career, I have been committed to creating a supportive, collaborative environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful, lasting changes. Whether helping a child build emotional regulation skills, supporting a teenager through life's transitions, or working with an adult to overcome anxiety, depression, or executive functioning challenges, my goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each individual's unique needs.
My Approach
My clinical foundation is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that helps clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical coping and problem-solving skills they can continue using long after therapy ends. While CBT serves as the foundation of my work, I believe that effective therapy is never one-size-fits-all. I tailor treatment to each individual's unique needs by integrating techniques from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as Play and Art Therapy. These approaches provide meaningful ways for clients to express themselves, process emotions, and build resilience, especially when words alone aren't enough.
Areas of Focus
I have a particular passion for working with:
ADHD (in kids, teens, and adults)
Anxiety
Depression
Executive dysfunction and organizational challenges
Life transitions and adjustment difficulties
Stress management
Self-esteem and identity development
Family and relationship challenges
Whether you're a parent seeking support for your child, a teenager navigating school, friendships, and life's changes, or an adult feeling overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life, my goal is to meet you where you are with understanding, practical guidance, and encouragement every step of the way.
My Promise to You
Therapy works best when it feels like a genuine partnership built on trust, warmth, and zero judgment. My sessions are a space where you can show up as your full, messy, human self. I’ll bring the clinical expertise; you bring your story. Together, we’ll figure out what growth and healing look like for you.
I’d love the opportunity to work with you or your family. Reach out whenever you’re ready, I’ll be here.
